Privacy policy

What we collect

thisUSB does not require an account and does not collect your name, email address or payment details. When you click an outbound retailer link, we record which link was clicked, the page it was on and the time. We do not store your IP address or any identifier with that record.

Our web server keeps standard access logs (which include IP addresses) for security and troubleshooting. They are deleted automatically after 14 days.

How pages are tailored to you

To show relevant picks (for example Mac-compatible hubs to Mac visitors), we read the information every browser sends with each request: your operating system and device type, preferred language, and light/dark and reduced-motion settings. We use it only to render the page you asked for; we don’t store it or use it to identify you, and we don’t use fingerprinting or cross-site tracking.

What’s stored in your browser

• Theme (localStorage): your light/dark choice.
• Your device (localStorage + a first-party cookie named thisusb_setup, 1 year): the device you picked in “Will it work with my device?”, so pages can be tailored to it. It contains only a device name such as “macbook-air”.
• Saved and recently viewed products (localStorage only): never sent to our server.

Clear your browser’s site data for thisusb.com to remove all of it. When you follow a link to Amazon or another retailer, that retailer may set its own cookies to attribute a purchase to us. Those are governed by the retailer’s privacy policy, such as Amazon’s Privacy Notice.

Your rights

Because we don’t hold personal data tied to you, there is usually nothing to access or delete. If you have a question or request under GDPR or CCPA, email hello@thisusb.com.

Changes

If we add analytics or other services, we’ll update this page before they go live.
