Why people pick it

  • One of the few 80Gb/s storage devices: rated over 6,000MB/s on Thunderbolt 5 and USB4 80Gb/s hosts
  • Still rated up to 3,800MB/s on Thunderbolt 4 and 40Gb/s USB4 ports
  • Fanless and bus-powered, with a tool-friendly design for your own 2280 or 2242 SSD
  • Can serve as a Mac boot drive

Know before you buy

  • Enclosure only: you supply the NVMe SSD
  • Not for plain USB 3 ports: OWC says PCs need Thunderbolt 4, Thunderbolt 5 or USB4
  • Short 0.3m cable in the box
  • OWC's 6,000MB/s figure was measured with its own Aura IV SSD; other drives vary
