For most people the best power bank is the Anker Nano Power Bank (10K, 30W): a 10,000mAh pack with a built-in USB-C cable that fast-charges any phone. If you need to charge a laptop, get the Anker Laptop Power Bank (25K, 165W), which gives 100W to each of two laptops from a 90Wh battery you can fly with. iPhone owners who want to skip the cable should look at the magnetic picks below.
Every bank here is at or under 100Wh, so they're all allowed in carry-on bags without airline approval. The difference is how much power each port delivers, which decides whether a bank can actually charge your laptop.

Best everyday power bank: Anker Nano Power Bank (10K, 30W)

Anker
Anker Nano Power Bank (10,000mAh, 30W, Built-In USB-C Cable)
A 10,000mAh power bank with a built-in USB-C cable plus separate USB-C and USB-A ports, rated up to 30W.
- 30W max output
- 3 ports
A 10,000mAh bank is the right size for a phone: about one and a half to two charges for most phones, and light enough for a jacket pocket. This one's built-in USB-C cable means you can't leave the cable at home, and it also refills the bank. Anker rates the cable and the USB-C port at 30W each and the USB-A port at 22.5W, which is enough to fast-charge any USB-C iPhone, Pixel or Galaxy over USB Power Delivery. It also tops up a Switch or a Steam Deck.
Two caveats. Anker lists a lower total when several devices share it, so charging two phones at once is slower. And at 215g, it's heavier than the slim magnetic packs below.

Best for laptops: Anker Laptop Power Bank (25K, 165W)

Anker
Anker Laptop Power Bank (25K, 165W, Built-In and Retractable Cables)
A 25,000mAh (90Wh) laptop power bank with two built-in USB-C cables, a USB-C port and a USB-A port, rated up to 165W total.
- 100W max output
- 4 ports
This is the bank to buy if a laptop is the main thing you charge. It has two built-in USB-C cables (a 2.3 ft retractable one and a short one that doubles as the carry strap) plus a USB-C port. All three can deliver 100W, which charges a MacBook Air, a 14-inch MacBook Pro or most Windows ultrabooks close to full speed. The USB-A port adds 33W.
Anker's split is clearly documented: 165W total across two devices, and 130W with three or four. It's 25,000mAh, rated 90Wh, comfortably under the 100Wh carry-on limit. It refills at 100W in about 2 hours, by Anker's figure, and it officially supports pass-through charging with a 20W or larger charger. The trade-off is weight: 595g.

Best value laptop power bank: UGREEN Nexode 20000mAh 130W

UGREEN
UGREEN Nexode Power Bank 20000mAh 130W with Smart Digital Display
A 20,000mAh (72Wh) three-port power bank with a 100W USB-C port, a 30W USB-C port, a USB-A port and a color status display, rated 130W total.
- 100W max output
- 3 ports
If one laptop and a phone is your usual load, the UGREEN gets you a 100W USB-C port without paying for built-in cables. UGREEN lists 100W on the main USB-C port, 30W on the second and 22.5W on the USB-A port, with 130W total. The color display shows live input and output per port, which is handy for checking what your laptop is actually drawing. PPS support on the USB-C ports covers Samsung's Super Fast Charging.
The limits are on paper too. Only one port reaches 100W, recharging tops out at 65W so refills take longer than on the Anker, and UGREEN doesn't list pass-through charging. At 72Wh and 480g, it's the lighter laptop option.

Most powerful: Anker Prime Power Bank (26K, 300W)

Anker
Anker Prime Power Bank (26K, 300W)
A 26,250mAh (99.75Wh) power bank with two 140W USB-C ports and a USB-A port, rated up to 300W total and 250W recharge input.
- 140W max output
- 3 ports
This is as big as a power bank gets before airlines ask questions. It's rated 99.75Wh, just under the 100Wh threshold, and both USB-C ports deliver up to 140W over USB PD 3.1. That means one bank can fast-charge a 16-inch MacBook Pro, or two 14-inch laptops at once. Anker lists 300W total across both USB-C ports and the 22.5W USB-A port, and includes a 240W cable, which 140W charging needs.
It also refills fast: up to 250W using two chargers at once, or 140W from one. Anker notes the 140W maximum is sustained only up to 80% battery level, and the optional Anker app adjusts output settings. At 600g, it's a bag item. Make sure the 99.75Wh label is visible if security asks.

Best MagSafe power bank: Anker MagGo Power Bank 2 Pro (10K)

Anker
Anker MagGo Power Bank 2 Pro (10K, Qi2 25W, Active Cooling)
A 10,000mAh magnetic power bank with Qi2.2 25W wireless charging for recent iPhones, a 45W USB-C port, a cooling fan, a display and a fold-out stand.
- 45W max output
- 1 port
This is the newest generation of magnetic packs. It's Qi2.2 certified for 25W wireless, and Anker's chart shows 25W on iPhone 17-series phones, the iPhone 18 Pro, and the iPhone 16 Plus and 16 Pro Max. The iPhone 16, 16 Pro and iPhone Air get up to 20W, and iPhone 12 to 15 get up to 15W. A small fan and graphene layers manage heat, which is what usually forces wireless chargers to slow down. There's also a display, a fold-out stand for video, and a 45W USB-C port that charges an iPad by cable or refills the bank, to 80% in about 52 minutes per Anker.
Be realistic about capacity. Anker says the 10,000mAh cell delivers about 5,500 to 6,500mAh to a phone, because wireless charging loses more energy than a cable. Anker also says it isn't compatible with the iPhone 16e or Samsung and Pixel phones.

Best MagSafe power bank with a built-in cable: UGREEN MagFlow 10000mAh (Qi2 25W)

UGREEN
UGREEN MagFlow Magnetic Wireless Power Bank 10000mAh (Qi2 25W)
A 10,000mAh magnetic power bank with Qi2 25W wireless charging, a built-in 30W USB-C cable that doubles as a carry strap, and a second USB-C port.
- 30W max output
- 2 ports
The MagFlow is the magnetic pack for people who also charge earbuds or a second phone by cable. It's Qi2 25W certified, so iPhone 17-series phones charge wirelessly at up to 25W. UGREEN also lists 25W for the iPhone 16 series on iOS 26 and the Pixel 10 Pro XL, while iPhone 12 to 15 get up to 15W. Its built-in 22cm USB-C cable delivers up to 30W in either direction and loops into a carry strap, and the separate USB-C port adds another 30W.
It can charge three devices at once, but UGREEN doesn't publish how the power is shared when it does, so expect slower speeds with everything plugged in. UGREEN lists pass-through charging and about two hours to recharge. At 36Wh it's well inside carry-on limits. Phones without built-in magnets, including most Android models, need a magnetic case.

Best slim MagSafe power bank: Anker Nano Power Bank (5K, MagGo, Slim)

Anker
Anker Nano Power Bank (5K, MagGo, Slim)
An 8.6mm-thin 5,000mAh magnetic power bank with Qi2-certified 15W wireless charging and a 20W USB-C port.
- 20W max output
- 1 port
If you only need an afternoon top-up, a 5,000mAh pack is the one you'll actually carry. Anker's is 8.6mm thick and 122g, Qi2-certified for 15W magnetic charging, and its USB-C port charges or recharges at 20W. A graphene layer and temperature sensors aim to keep it below 40°C (104°F).
It's a top-up, not a full charge for a large phone. Wireless tops out at 15W rather than 25W, and charging two devices at once drops both outputs to slow rates.

How we choose
We haven't tried these power banks ourselves. Our picks come from research:
- Manufacturer specs. Capacity, watt-hours, per-port wattage, multi-device splits and pass-through support come from Anker's and UGREEN's product pages and user guides. Where a maker doesn't publish a figure, such as watt-hours or pass-through, we say so and don't guess.
- Standards. We check USB Power Delivery levels (20V for laptops, PD 3.1 for 140W), PPS for Samsung phones, and Qi2 versus Qi2.2 for wireless.
- Travel rules. Every pick is at or under 100Wh, the FAA's no-approval limit.
- Known buyer patterns. The big ones: a 10,000mAh bank delivers less than it sounds, and laptops charge slowly from 30W ports.
Buying guide
mAh vs Wh
Power banks advertise milliamp-hours, measured at the battery cell's own voltage of about 3.6V to 3.85V. Your devices charge at 5V to 20V, so some energy is lost to voltage conversion and heat. The honest figure is watt-hours: Wh = mAh x cell voltage / 1,000. A 10,000mAh bank holds about 36Wh to 38Wh, and a 20,000mAh bank about 72Wh to 77Wh.
Compare that with your device. A 13-inch MacBook Air battery is a little over 50Wh, a 14-inch MacBook Pro about 70Wh and a 16-inch MacBook Pro 100Wh, so after losses even a 90Wh bank won't refill a big laptop twice.
Flying with a power bank
- 100Wh or less: allowed in carry-on without approval.
- 101Wh to 160Wh: airline approval required, and no more than two such spares.
- Over 160Wh: banned on passenger planes.
- Never in checked bags.
Since March 27, 2026, an ICAO rule change limits passengers to two power banks each and says they must not be recharged on board. The UK CAA adds that they shouldn't be used to charge devices in flight, and several airlines ban in-flight use entirely. Charge up at the gate.
PD, PPS and wireless
USB Power Delivery lets the bank and the device agree on a voltage, from 5V up to 20V (and 28V for 140W PD 3.1). Laptops need 20V, so look at the best single-port wattage, not the total. PPS is a PD feature Samsung's 25W and 45W fast charging depends on. Qi2 magnetic banks charge MagSafe iPhones (12 and newer) at up to 15W, and Qi2.2 banks reach 25W on phones that support it. Above 60W you need a 5A e-marked cable, and 140W needs a 240W cable. Our fast-charging cable guide explains the markings.
Pass-through charging
Pass-through lets the bank charge a device while it's plugged into the wall itself, so one hotel outlet refills both overnight. Only the Anker 25K lists it among these picks, with conditions. Don't count on it unless the maker does.
For the wall end of your kit, see our USB-C charger guide. A power bank also makes a practical gift: more ideas are in our tech gifts under 50 dollars guide.
Verdict
Get the Anker Nano Power Bank (10K, 30W) if you mainly charge a phone. For a laptop, the Anker Laptop Power Bank (25K, 165W) is the most complete package, the UGREEN Nexode 130W is the lighter value pick, and the Anker Prime 26K is for 16-inch MacBook Pros and two-laptop days. On an iPhone 17, the Anker MagGo 2 Pro is the fastest magnetic option, the UGREEN MagFlow adds a built-in cable for a second device, and the Anker Nano 5K Slim is the one you'll forget is there.
Frequently asked questions
Can I bring a 20,000mAh power bank on a plane?
Yes. A 20,000mAh bank holds about 72Wh to 77Wh, under the 100Wh limit that needs no airline approval. It must go in your carry-on, never checked luggage. Since March 27, 2026, many airlines also follow an ICAO rule allowing at most two power banks per passenger and banning recharging them on board. Some airlines go further and ban using them in flight, so check your carrier's rules.
How many times will a 10,000mAh power bank charge my phone?
Usually about one and a half to two full charges for a recent iPhone or Android phone. A 10,000mAh bank holds roughly 36Wh to 38Wh, and a phone battery is around 13Wh to 20Wh. Conversion losses eat a meaningful share of that, and wireless charging loses more: Anker says its 10,000mAh MagGo 2 Pro delivers about 5,500 to 6,500mAh in practice.
Can a power bank charge a laptop?
Yes, if it has a USB-C Power Delivery port that supplies 20V at enough wattage. A MacBook Air or thin Windows laptop charges well at 45W to 65W, and a 14-inch performance laptop wants about 100W. A 30W port will slow the battery drain but may not charge the laptop while you work. Above 60W you also need a 5A e-marked USB-C cable.
What is pass-through charging, and is it safe?
Pass-through means the power bank charges your phone or laptop while the bank itself is plugged into the wall, so one charger refills both. It's safe when the manufacturer supports it, but it adds heat, so makers set conditions. Anker's 25K laptop bank, for example, needs a 20W or larger charger and only passes power through when input exceeds output. If a bank doesn't list pass-through, don't count on it.
Is Qi2 the same as MagSafe?
Close. Qi2 is the open wireless charging standard built on Apple's MagSafe magnet design, so a Qi2 power bank snaps onto any MagSafe iPhone (iPhone 12 or newer, except the iPhone 16e). Original Qi2 charges at up to 15W. The newer 25W version, often called Qi2.2, reaches 25W on iPhone 17-series phones, while older iPhones charge more slowly. Android phones without built-in magnets need a magnetic case.
