Compact: the essentials for travel or a light setup.

Why people pick it

  • Plugable lists ChromeOS support, with no driver to install on current systems
  • Gigabit wired connection for school testing, video calls or a busy home Wi-Fi network
  • Tiny 20 g bus-powered design, so nothing else to plug in
  • Also works with USB-C iPads (iPadOS 17 or later) and Macs, per Plugable

Know before you buy

  • Uses a USB-C port and gives nothing back: no pass-through charging or extra USB ports
  • Gigabit only; for 2.5Gbps networks you need a 2.5GbE adapter
  • Older units (before mid-2023) used the earlier AX88179 chip, which Plugable doesn't officially support on macOS 10.15 or later
  • Can't be used for PXE network boot
