Why people pick it

  • Adds two extended 4K@60Hz HDMI screens to MacBook Air models limited to one external display
  • Small 85g aluminum body with an attached cable, easy to carry
  • Leaves MagSafe and the other USB-C port free for charging and accessories
  • Plugable's Mac-specific model; the USBC-6950U sibling is not recommended for macOS

Know before you buy

  • Requires the DisplayLink Manager app and macOS Screen Recording permission
  • HDCP-protected streaming (Netflix, Disney+, Hulu, Prime Video) shows a black screen on its displays
  • No charging pass-through, USB data ports or Ethernet
  • Not for gaming or GPU-heavy apps, and Plugable notes it can run warm in long sessions
  • Plugable recommends connecting it directly to the Mac rather than through a hub or dock
